The Weapons of Quake IV

Marine Guantlet
The only true melee weapon in the game, the Gauntlet is a small handheld weapon with a rotating chainsaw-like blade that cuts through your opponents flesh like a a knife through hot butter.
Marine Blaster
A small, relatively weak handheld pistol that does limited damage - but never runs out of ammo.
Marine Machine Gun
Automatic weapon that shoots standard bullets. One of the weaker weapons in the game, but still
strong enough to pack a punch.
Marine Shotgun
A deadly close-range weapon that fires multiple pellets in a tight spread. The farther away your opponent is,
the greater the spread, making the gun less effective.
Strogg Grenade Launcher
This weapon fires grenades that have a short fuse. Grenades will not explode immediately on contact with static objects such as a floor or a wall, but will explode on contact with an opponent. Grenades can be bounced off walls, the floor, and ceilings, to hit opponents from around corners or behind objects. A good cover fire weapon to block entrances or a good weapon to make an escape with, bouncing grenades of walls infront or to the side of you to deal some hurt on your pursuer.
Marine Hyper Blaster
The big brother of the blaster, and the replacement for q3's plasmagun. The hyperblaster fires deadly energy bursts at your opponent at a high rate of speed. As a projectile firing weapon, its not great at long distance, but at close and medium distances, its highly effective.
Strogg Nailgun
Like the name suggests, this gun shoots sharpened nails at a high rate of fire. The weapon has a briefwindup time before it can be fired, reducing its effectiveness in close quarters. However for medium or long range action, the Nailgun is one of the deadlier weapons.
Strogg Rocket Launcher
The signature weapon of the Quake series. This gun shoots rockets that explode on impact, dealing considerable direct hit damage and moderate splash damage to anyone in a certain radius, making it a good idea to shoot at your opponents feet, so a missed shot will still do splash damage. The rocket launcher also give players the edge in multiplayer allowing rocket jumping to quickly move through a map with higher elevations. Seasoned CTF players use this technique to a huge degree.
Strogg Lightning Gun
A gun that shoots, you guessed it, a steady beam of hot lightning! A favorite from the Quake 3 series and winner of our poll "most looked for weapon in Q4", the lightning gun is one of the most powerful weapons in the game in terms of damage:second ratio, but it's limited range makes it useless in long range fights.
Strogg Railgun
Slightly Smaller than the q2 and q3 railgun, the Quake 4 railgun still packs a punch. The railgun fires individual depleted uranium slugs which deal out a great deal of damage per hit. The main drawback to the railgun is the long cooldown time, making the rate of fire very slow. A great weapon to snipe with, and one of the strongest in the game.
